Measure E, Cap on Admin Pay - ( all about value)

Products, services or professionals, the price paid for these is driven by….quality and what the market will bear.

The intent of Measure E is to limit the pay of the City Manager and all of the direct reports.

We value the principles of a free-market economy. You get what you pay for - and Measure E takes that free-market economy value away from the people. The City Manager job requires an expert in municipal finance, organizational leadership/management, labor negotiations and union relations, public policy and government law, public works and planning -- to name a few. Who would run an organization of 300+ employees with 100,000+ stakeholders, at a salary or less than 1/2 the going rate?

Measure E comes at the price of sacrifice, and with the trickle down affect. With lower qualified management come lower qualified direct reports.

Contrary to what Measure E says, it will affect safety, as both the Fire and Police chiefs are direct reports to the City Manager. (Do you think for one minute the City Manager would pay them more than what they are paid?)

 Sacrifice and trickle down

Devalued city management = devalued safety
Lower paid chief, lower paid battalion chiefs, captains, detectives, policeman and fireman and will result in a mass exodus. After time, the safety departments will disband and the services contracted out to the County and State.  Crime will go up, response times will diminish.  (So much for the 2nd Safest City in the Nation status.)
.
Devalued safety = devalued property values
Crime will be up.  The attractiveness of Murrieta will be gone.  Property values will go down. Employers, educational and healthcare facilitators will look the other way.

Devalued property values = devalued income (taxes)

With property values down, so too will be property taxes. The City will have less to maintain infrastructure, parks, safety, etc., let alone install new.

Devalued income (taxes) = devalued quality of life

Quality of life would cease as you know it now, that is if you stay around long enough. Streets would be in disrepair, soccer games would be held on parched grass fields, college bound students won’t stand a chance in staying local, and you’ll still be driving those long distances to earn an income.

The citizens of Murrieta deserve the best services and the best talent running their city.

Measure E will ensure the least competent get the jobs and city finances and services will be run into the ground.

For families to be economically secure, they need not only physical assets, but also “human and social capital,” which includes education, skills, and employment experience, as well as less tangible resources such as social and professional networks. Human and social capital provides parents with the means to advance in the labor market, improve their earnings potential, and ultimately, to increase their family's standard of living, laying the groundwork for the next generation to succeed.

Is this really the road Murrietan’s want to travel?

vote NO on Measure E,
then vote NO on Measures C and D
