Measure E - [ Murrieta's City Manager pay not so bad afterall ]

Some will say, according to the League of Cities 2009 earnings report, Murrieta's City Manager pay is in the top 20% of the state.

And those that say this do not account for the many variables (buyouts, employment term, etc.) contained within the report and instead prefer to simply say (as in without considering all the facts) Murrieta's City Manager is overpaid.

In reviewing report's spreadsheet used to compile the data, where many of the variables (leave time buyout, term of service, life insurance, etc.) are noted, it is clear the only comprehensive way to compare Murrieta to statewide and local numbers is to look at the cost per resident/per year.  After doing this, Murrieta's City Manager pay proves to be a bargin.

In Riv. Co., the cost of the Murrieta City Manager to the residents is in the bottom 20% compared to other Riv. Co. cities.
.
The cost is also less than the statewide average.

Murrieta has been and is fiscally responsible.
Murrieta residents pay less for a City Manager than those residents of 80% of other cities.

Vote NO on measure E,
then vote NO on measures C and D.

  1. Senator Chuck DeVore and Senator Ray Haynes both endorse and support all three initiatives. These two senators are very conservative and care very much for the taxpayer. If these were bad initiatives why would they endorse them?

  2. Go to League of Cities web site and look at the list of city managers pay. We are in the top 18% out of 443 cities! Newport Beach pays $180,000 because the wealthy people watch their money while the middle class and unemployed are just trying to survive while our city steals our taxpayer money. Hey what about the slush fund the city council controls??????

  3. As our friend Ronald Reagan (and the NB CM) once said..."trust, but verify". My saying..."know the facts before you flap". For further details, I refer you to the main body of the post.

  4. Listen, Anon 5:10, you have cited two politicians, DeVore and Haynes, for your proof that the three Murrieta initiatives are good. You asked the question:

"If these were bad initives, why would they endorse them?"

You have got to be kidding. You cite to politicians as your standard and authority?

I live by the credo that the government, and its politicians, usually lie. And the higher up in the government one goes, the more likely its politicians are lying.

DeVore and Haynes are really only interested in their personal welfare, and that of their supporting special interests. So, they are the last type of authority I would rely on to judge the wisdom of the three initiatives.

My answer to your question of "why else would they [DeVore and Haynes] support them [the three initiatives], is that they do not care what happens to the ordinary Murrietans. They only care about what is politically expedient for their careers.

We Murrietans must make up our own minds after reading the type of information found on this blog. You may be willing to turn off your mind and turn over your judgment to a couple of career Pols, but not me. I have already voted no on all three of the Murrieta initiatives. Thank you very much.
